Norfolk House Hotel

Norfolk House Hotel

Berkshire

With the county having the distinction of a royal residence at Windsor Castle this is known as Royal Berkshire. It’s not too far from the great metropolis of London but has some idyllic areas and small towns. The River Thames winds its way through Berkshire, so many of the old villages and towns of the area are close to the famous river.

BerkshireThe county has some one million residents spread around the towns and villages. Many commute to London for work, so there is an excellent rail link from places like Maidenhead and Reading to the capital. A typically good in the Berkshire region is the Norfolk House and information on this hotel can be found at norfolk-house-hotel.co.uk.

One of the most delightful summer aspects of Berkshire is the various regattas. The most famous is the Henley Regatta. There is also the Maidenhead Regatta and the Marlow regatta. These events epitomise the English summer scene. Information about events in Berkshire can be found at norfolk-house-hotel.co.uk.

Apart from the river activities, there are lots of historical sights to see in the county. The most obvious is Windsor Castle. The castle is the oldest in England and dates back to the time of William the Conqueror and 1070. It is in all ways the most impressive fortress still in existence.

Windsor castle still retains its standing as a residence for the queen and the royal family. If the national flag is flying at the castle, then you know the queen is at home. At these times there are restrictions on visitor access to certain areas of the castle.
